Not really completely back, but enough to let you know what’s up.

Far Cry 3 is still a ways off, and no new news has shown itself. But hey, we’re optimistic that something will come our way sooner rather then later. And if it doesn’t, we can pay Mac to go bug Ubisoft.

For the server side of things, well. It’s been a little quiet around here, fear not! Cause we like you way too much to remain quiet for this long.

Next server for us will be a Far Cry Instincts Predator match. Now it probably won’t be next week. A big game drops on Tuesday and I just don’t think Predator can compete with the shiny newness being released. I mean, I love Pred.. but well, you know. It hasn’t aged perfectly.

After this pred server we’re going to keep the ball rolling, and jump right into FC2 the following week. We’ve been away for too long and its time to play again. Plus there is a steady stream of new maps coming out. FCmaps just finished their 360 mapmaking contest. Lots of high quality maps floating around.

Now I have a question I ask semi-regularly: What day is good for you?

Anyways we like maps here at FCS, we kinda depend on them. A large amount of high quality maps and no one really playing them? I think its kinda sad. So hey, let’s have a server and play all of these maps.

Some people have said that my posts can be a little on the wordy side, hell I’ll even admit I’m wordy. But hey, words are fun.

This week we’re doing the whole Far Cry 2 dealio again, starting at 9 o’clock ish on Friday September 2nd.

We will be taking maps as usual, but our map submission center has moved to a nicer cleaner neighborhood. No more malaria, or rusty poles in your stomach. Oh no. We’re moving up in the world.

Same rules apply as normal, only submit a map if you plan on showing up. I’ll post our good ol’ guidelines over there too. Just so you don’t forget.

But I will be gone for a week, just a tiny week. Going away for a little break, I won’t have a solid internet connection until next Thursday. When we do come back though, we will be back stronger than ever!

Mostly since I’m getting a new ISP. To put it simply, I’ll have a stronger more solid connection. This doesn’t matter too much, since FC2 is mostly fairly easy to run, but hey it’s nice to have that added security in case anything goes wrong. Kinda like how it nearly went wrong during our last server.

Anyways I’ll be gone for a week, no server until I get back. So get to making those maps!

This week see’s us returning to FC2 and echoing what I said above, I don’t think we will do a Pred server every other week, sometimes you just need a break. And I personally don’t want this to become like what it was a year ago. I want this server do grow and learn, Far Cry is a game that should be played, …Just not all the time.

So Well keep chugging along, modifying things here, and a few things there. So that when Far Cry 3 rolls around, we are at the top of our game.

This week brings a Far Cry 2 server, the same time, same place. 9 to 9:30 start time, we’ll set a end time of Midnight but if all goes well, then we’ll keep going until our collective thumbs and behinds hurt.

The one thing we ask, is that if you plan on submitting a map. Please plan on showing up! We’ve not hosted a few of the maps submitted because the creator wasn’t there. Secondly if you do show up and we play your map, show the same courtesy to everyone else in the room. Don’t suddenly have something come up and you have to drop. That’s just not cool, and we’ll think twice about hosting your maps in the future.

Now this isn’t something new, we’ve been saying this since we started. So Please, if you submit a map show up. If we play your map, don’t quit out right after its over.

But, I still feel like doing a server damnit. So a server we shall do. I’m thinking some Predator would be fun and would mix stuff up a bit. We’ve had a few fun games of Pred in the past, but it never really lasted that long. I hope people will get back into the game a bit, just because there are so many quality Pred maps (even if the game quality is lacking)

Luckily for us, downloading maps from the site FCmaps has become even easier! Now I can do it with a USB stick, so if you want your map played (and its uploaded to their server) Then use our normal submission guidelines to submit your map!

Next up, server. I don’t want to host a Wednesday server, it seems like an awkward day. I’m thinking Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Probably Thursday or Friday, Far Cry 2 just doesn’t seem like Saturday night material. Not really Friday night material  either. Thursday, maybe. It’s still kinda awkward, but not as much as Wednesday.

Man.. Decisions are Hard.

Friday night it is. This is after some thought. I think we’ll go a little later then we are used to here at the Soup. 9:00 – 9:30 start time. We’ll keep a standard time of going till midnight. All EST times, all PM.

Anyways, not much else to say on the front of Far Cry 3, it’s still a ways off and I still don’t want to play Far Cry 2. Anyone up for some Pred?

Now I’m going to warn you, right here right now. We are not going to go like those Other Far Cry Websites. We are Far Cry all the time. We’re not going to add a Halo Section, and then after we deem the game dead and boring, shuffle it under a rug while no one is looking. We like Far Cry, the tropical, the dusty.. Every little bit. I mean Yeah, I do admit Far Cry 2 was less then stellar, but come on. Its Far Cry, it has one of the better, no. The best console editor to date, and I will get cocky about this. I mean this is called Far Cry Soup dot Com, we have the right to act a little like Fanboys.

Anyways. The second I hear Anything, and I do mean anything about Far Cry 3. I will post about it, and make a wonderful new bowl of soup for all of you. Far Cry 3 has been announced, its a big deal you know! Not coming out until 2012, but hey we Far Cry players are used to waiting. From initial impressions the game has the look of a lovechild, that Far Cry Instincts and Far Cry 2 spawned off in a corner somewhere. (And no, they are not related you sicko)

Anyways “how are things going to work here“, I bet you’re asking yourself that. And if you weren’t, well now you are. I have a few ideas up my sleeve, to be honest things might change a little around here. But hey, what do I know.

I have to say, FarCrySoup.com has one of the best damn communities out there. We have some of the strongest members, who consistently put out amazing maps and show up for the servers. Along with being great people, who are constructive and easy going.

Thank you everyone for sticking with us for a little over a year now.  Its been a great time, but I think now is the time to move on. Far Cry 2 was never the greatest game, but we made good out of the bad and had fun doing it. Thank you again. ha ha

Onto the server bit, we’ll do the MMC maps first and then a map list of my choosing. The maps will be hosted under my normal account as the Gold on FarCrySoup has expired today. I’m looking forward to playing one final match with everyone, then never touching FC2 again. ha ha.. Maybe I’ll fiddle with the mapmaker a little bit.
