This site has lasted a little over a year, for a game that back when we started was already in the decline for popularity. It was fun, sometimes frustrating but all around a good time. But as it is with most things, its time to move on. I would best describe the current FC2 community as a Strong one, but with people slowly trickling out as new games and better titles come out.

I have to say, FarCrySoup.com has one of the best damn communities out there. We have some of the strongest members, who consistently put out amazing maps and show up for the servers. Along with being great people, who are constructive and easy going.

UnearthlyWatch.. You are the man, you’re a really great guy. A decent player and damn good mapmaker. You show up to the sessions, and you’ve sent me feedback on my maps after the sessions. We couldn’t ask for a better member. Thanks a lot for staying with this rollercoaster. ha ha

Gravedigger5454, although new you’ve been a great member thus far. Sorry for shutting things down right when you arrived, but I hope you enjoyed our little community!

Thank you everyone for sticking with us for a little over a year now.  Its been a great time, but I think now is the time to move on. Far Cry 2 was never the greatest game, but we made good out of the bad and had fun doing it. Thank you again. ha ha

Onto the server bit, we’ll do the MMC maps first and then a map list of my choosing. The maps will be hosted under my normal account as the Gold on FarCrySoup has expired today. I’m looking forward to playing one final match with everyone, then never touching FC2 again. ha ha.. Maybe I’ll fiddle with the mapmaker a little bit.

    Well, this kinda sucks. Gov, i admire you for starting this site and keeping it going for as long as you have. This was a GREAT place to showcase your newest creation(s) and have a good time. Every time i played in a FarCrySoup server i had a BLAST. I tried to play whenever i could. Some nights i couldn’t play, other nights i simply didn’t feel like playing. I also tried to participate in the monthly challenges, but it just wasn’t happening with my schedule. I still have 2 half done maps from those damn challenges lol.

    My favorite part of playing here was seeing all of the crazy stuff people would come up with in their maps. The community was awesome to play with too. FCS had a small group of followers, but they were loyal and all great people to have a laugh with. Every time i joined i got to see new maps and that’s the funnest thing about FC imo. I love me some TDM from time to time, i also love making maps from time to time, but seeing and playing on other peoples creations is my whole reason for even owning this game.

    It’s no secret that FC2 is a pretty dull online game, but damn was the map editor AMAZING. It’s a shame the Ubi chose the route they chose because this could have been a game that wouldn’t leave my xbox for weeks at a time. There’s so many great map makers out there. It’s a shame the gameplay wasn’t more addicting because a lot of maps didn’t get the attention they deserved.

    Well… thanks again Gov for starting and hosting this site for as long as you have. Thanks to everyone else for making great maps and providing me with a good laugh from time to time. I hope to see most of you guys when Halo Reach drops this September. Hopefully Forge World will be enough to quench everyone’s mapping thirst.

    Well, it’s a shame to see the server go, and it’s a shame that I’m missing the final server…. but hey, throw in a few extra grenades for me.

    As an off-and-on member of the team, currently off… I did enjoy some of my work here. Truly the site elped me enjoy Far Cry, FCS was there for me all the way, through all my sadness and happiness. You know, like that time I failed my math test, and you guys cheered me up…

    ..well now I sound like a babbling fool.

    Well, it’s a shame Fac Cry 2 sucked as a game, apart from the editor. I know I’m gonna finish up my last few maps, and probably dissapear, and wait until Crysis 2 comes out. Hopefully it has an editor.

    Well, I’ll miss the site, and I’ll miss the people.

    Hey guys, a tear come to my eye reading the Gov’s post, but I felt things were coming to a close. I still think I can produce one or two new special maps, at my leisure. For me it was almost exclusively the Far Cry editor that mattered, and testing my creations with a great bunch of guys who appreciate the craft. You taught me a lot about map making and encouraged me to think about the gameplay. Some of your maps were truly sublime and nearly all were fun to play.
    Still I am looking forward to the next great map editor and we have a few possibilities there.
    Thanks Govener for hosting the site and the matches,.. been quite an effort. I’ve loved being part of this community. I will see you guys Wed night.

    well, ive never been great with words when it comes to a closing, so i think ill leave it at, it was good while it was good. many of you have helped turn my floundering attempts at creating environmental blurs with objects placed helterskelter across them into…. at least something playabale, and for that, i thank you. mostly it was by liking some little thing from your maps, and ripping it apart in the editor til i understood it. others, it came in the form of constructive criticism and straight up advice.

    apparently luck struck us when i scrolled thru the player matches while bored, and saw the name farcrysoup and thought “wow, this guy must be obsessed” and joined the match. i’m glad i did, its been a fun (if bumpy) ride, hopefully we’ll all be on the next one together (i know, that was a bad analogy)

    to the mysterious farcrysoup figure head that absolutely noone knows the identity of aka the govener…. thanks for sticking with thhis site and brown(in so many ways) game through everything

    i might be a little late, but i will be there for wednesday.
    and finally… i guess thisll be the last time we have to get that lazy @$$holes diamonds for him! lol
    i believe that is all, good day sirs (and sirette)

    Thanks for hosting those crazy nights. Those crazy nights with conversations of godzilla and other strange things abound. Those crazy nights with silly people yelling silly things over the microphone through the internet. Those crazy nights with epic battles and massive fails.

    Just glad we don’t have any more MOSLOV-brand drama soup.

    wow i saw final server in the name and it just blew my mind. i was used to checking up on this site a lot and with that out of my weekly routine farcry will be even more boring. hopefully something like this gets going for halo reach and crysis 2. i’d be willing to lend a hand. this was an amazing site and is totally full of some great memories especially the ones about mac’s girlfriends that many laughs abounded =D.

    EVERYONE be sure to keep in touch. maybe share some cool ideas with the reach editor. i’ve mapped out like 6 maps already and savin it for that. seems like far cry 2′s time is ny anyways. the population is getting limp which sucks. and with farcrysoup soon to be out we should try coming up with something else for the mappers to keep the community alive

    p.s. flamethrower RULEZ kernal lol. and to vaskadar. i made a godzilla map because of some conversations from this site lol
    p.s.s. ILL try getting on more nowadays. i did seem to take a lot of breaks haha

    Hey you guys probably don’t remember but there was someone named TommyDey from a long time ago. That’s me. I’ve been meaning to come back here for a long time now, but I had a ton of stuff to deal with. Then I just forgot. I’m sorry I couldn’t have come back sooner and I’m sorry to see this end. Have you done that final match yet? I’d like to take part in that.

    I probably won’t join in this game tonight. Since my mic broke, I decided to stop playing this for the next week or so. I’m playing some of the arcade games. I used to play the Splinter Cell DA because its the only one that still has the unique spies vs. mercs multiplayer, I might play some of that today. I really should get a new mic soon since it makes a lot of these online games not as much fun, not being able to talk to my team mates in spliner cell or castlevania has made the games quite hard. Well, even if I’m online I probably won’t join tonight, and since I wouldn’t talk it won’t make much of a difference anyways.

    In a couple of weeks I was gonna start playing this game a whole lot again. If some of you want to add me as friends I’ll invite you. I’ll do something like this, with big games each wednesday or so. Disappointing to see this site will end before then, I was just gonna play this server every week then. I don’t think the gameplay in this is bad, map editor aside I find it to be more fun than similar games like the recent call of dutys. If they had this same map editor in call of duty 1 or 2 I’d probably prefer that though.

    I might do a little better post later, but just basically I probably won’t play this tonight, but I’ll still be playing this game a lot in a couple weeks now and would like to play against any of you that also want to keep playing it

    DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! I just re-purchased FarCry 2! I missed the server so bad that I got the game again. DAMN! See U guys on a FC2 server somewhere. Thanks Soup for hosting all this time. The community is (Mac, hold your ears) FUCKING AWESOME! Now vote me off, DAMNIT!
